Jobs Market Update, September 9th

The Bureau of Labor Statistics released a new jobs report on September 6th, 2024. Unemployment increased to 4.2%. The number of unemployed currently sits at 7.1 million. Adult men sit at 4.0% unemployment, and adult women at 3.7%.

As we know, the jobs market numbers are not set in stone, at least not yet. Last month we found out the jobs report was over-estimated by over 800,000. While we have been consistently told that the market is strengthening, or at least not worsening, the numbers have not been encouraging.
